Thanks so much for all your work on our plan. I’m sure it was a tough assignment as we weren’t very helpful in giving you a clear idea of what we wanted in a plan. Despite our lack of direction, we’re thrilled you were able to give us such a great design and incorporate so many “useful” plants. After you left, we spent the rest of the evening walking around the yard imagining how it will all look when we’re done. We love it and can’t wait to get started on it! Stay tuned on who wins the “battle of the blueberry bushes.” I’m determined they will eventually find their way to the back of the garden! If you ever tire of landscape design, you really should look into a diplomatic position with the State Department.

Dear Laurie,
We got the plan and your letter on Friday, and Leah had dinner over here with us on Saturday where we had the “big reveal!” I don’t think I have adequate words for our reactions. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!! WE ALL THREE ABSOLUTELY AND TOTALLY LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted to call you because we were sooo excited!
I could go on and on and on about it – the colors, the textures, the focal points (OMG, the trompe l’oeil treillage is so incredible!!), the imagination, etc., etc. Mostly, it’s the perfect fit for Leah that is so amazing – so LOW MAINTENANCE but beautiful!!!!! She was speechless for about 10 minutes while pouring over everything. (And frankly, Norbert is super jealous that Leah’s yard is going to look better than OUR yard! )

Laurie – I think one of your most outstanding characteristics as a landscape designer (and you do have more than one, you know), is your ability to capture the “essence” of the individual for whom you are designer and design a plan around that (versus the other way around).
